Ed Simon will discuss his 13 related essays on Pittsburgh as a place with a strong sense of community as well as a place of some contradiction. 

While Pittsburgh's rivers were once lined with belching steel mills, it is the same place that hosted the world's first major modern art exhibition. 

From the decline in the steel industry to the exodus of many Pittsburghers and the reinvention of the city, the Steel City is everchanging. 

Ed Simon will discuss everything from U.S. Steel to dive bars, churches, black and gold and bridges.
