Thomas Jefferson was an American statesman, planter, diplomat, lawyer, architect, philosopher, and Founding Father who served as the third president of the United States from 1801 to 1809.
Historian and author, Michael Aubrecht, will discuss his latest book Thomas Jefferson and the Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom. Mr. Aubrecht will touch on Thomas Jefferson's life and legacy, as well as the authoring of the statute, his thoughts on religion, and how it is commemorated today. The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom is the forerunner of the first amendment protections for religious freedom.
